Parenthesis, Brackets and Braces and just when and why are they used in Math?  Although we refer to all three of these math symbols as brackets, they have 'real' names. Brackets often referred to as Curlies { }, Parenthesis often referred to as Rounds ( ) and Braces often referred to as Squares [ ]  and all three types are use mostly in Algebra in math.
